You guys that know me, know that I've taken on the role of our team's RTO. (radio telephone operator) It's not the most exciting position, but someone's gotta do it. In fact, when the rest of you are on the line, I'm usually on your six somewhere talking on 2-3 channels about what's going down. At Broken Home 2, I was on three different radios most of the time and all those wires & antennas got me 'searched' 3 different times by UFS troops when they'd come across me 'bleeding out'. Anyway, if anyone's interested in all that stuff that's on Obi's rig, here's a rundown: I run 1-3 Baofeng UV-5R UHF/VHF radios. These things are reliable, can use FRS/MRGS freqs or custom repeater channels if they're set up for an Op. For my PTT and mic, I run a Z-Tactical Peltor style PTT for one radio, and a Z-Tactical H-250 handset for the other. This works better in my experience than a dual PTT because it allows others to use your set to TX/RX. The radio on the PTT is ran to my Z-Tactical ComTac I headset. And lastly I run a TCI M.A.S.T. system to extend the line of sight range on the primary radio. The only thing i would encourage any of you to do, more so those of you that are found in leadership roles often, is to purchase a Baofeng UV-5R sometime. They're affordable, use Kenwood 2-pin accesories, and I can set them up quick for whatever we're doing. If you guys have any question, hit me up. ~ Obi1

Thanks for the info kain and I were talking about this some. Im looking into getting a set up more for squad use and with my hearing aid I can run Bluetooth to it and still be able to hear whats going on and use it. And ill still use a mic headset like yours but keep. It over my left ear so the hearing aid wont squeal ob me.

Hey sorry to kick up an old post but i have a question on the legality of using this radio on the frs frequencies so Obi1 what frequencies do you use to be in the legal boundary. And if you are using the frs channels how is it legal or are you just biting the bullet there. If you could email me at dmtuska@gmail.com that would be great.
