With only 26 days until d-day, I just wanted to make a last minute loadout check. I'm sure all of the veteran players & full members are good to go, but there's sure to be a few new faces, and besides it's always good to double check and then check again. SQD base layer will be: - OD top (preferably a combat shirt or BDU, but t-shirts will work.)
- M81 woodland pants
SQD Headgear: - Green helmet / hat / boonie. As long as it's an OD or green based camo of some sort (i.e. M81, Kryptek mandrake, ATACs FG etc.) It'll work fine. OpsCore / Wendy Exfil / Mich, etc. type helmets are preferable to match the SQD, but again, not vital. A good ole' ball cap is good if that's what you got.
- Before you ask, Multicam will not work for headgear. It's classified as a 'Tan' scheme & confusion will ensue. Guaranteed.
Gear: - This is where a lot of players get confused. Your gear can be whatever you like. You wanna rock a UCP pattern PC w/ pink pouches? You can do that, be that guy, I wouldn't advise it, but you can. But seriously, your gear doesn't have to be green based.
Comms: - Any Motorola / Midland / Kenwood FRS type radio will work. The higher end UHF types like Puxings or Baofengs will give you better results, but not necessary. Now, realistically, the only guys who really need radios are SQDL, PL, RTO, etc., but if you wanna rock one, do it. Just know you'll probably get bitched at if you're chattering on it like its an iPhone.
EyePro: - As long as it's ANSI.87 certified, full-seal. Win.
Weapons: - This is again, an area where some teams can get pretty silly, requiring everyone to run the same platform for mag compatibility. This is not the case here. If you wanna run your Galil while everyone else is using M4's, NO PROBLEM. As long as it's reliable, ruleset legal, and you carry plenty of ammo. good-to-go.
Food: Last time I checked, this AO will be a "hot" field, meaning there will be no midday lunch break. So make sure you carry some high protein stuff like Clif bars, beef jerky, etc. And of course, WATER. Not that Gatorade s***. WATER.
Hopefully this is useful, and if I missed anything, post it up by all means. Some of you that are new to milsim or AMS events will see some seriously loaded out dudes out there, including some of us. *cough* me *cough* But it doesn't necessarily make them a higher caliber player, and if they tell you otherwise, there's a good chance they could be a prick.
